Roy,

I have used averaging before and my youngest son is improving
the tool he had written for it. I have followed the discussion
on the Colorsync list and wonder what you put in it. Plain
averaging or averaging and throwing out the most extreme on
every 4 measurements. On 4 measurements that may be a bit drastic.

Hi Ernst,

It simply averages the 4 measurements.

release grief.. 2.3.17 Vs 2.3.5

2006-02-11 by djon43

I've upgraded QTR a bunch of times in the past...with 2.3.5 I've
twice tried to upgrade and twice gotten 2.3.5 confirmation, and I've
clicked "install". But when I open the app I still see 2.3.17.

What am I missing? Must be my dumbth.

Please walk me through the process.

I believe that 2.3.17 refers to the QTRgui version, which shows up at
the top when you open the app. If you click on the "Help/About"
selection, it will show every version of every part, including 2.3.5
for the "QuadToPrinter" module.

I hope that the 2.3.17 is a typo. The most recent version of QTRgui that I have
released is 2.3.15. I don't even have a "in development" version at 2.3.17.

Yes, my error, it's 2.3.14. Sorry to add confusion.

What's good advice about updates? I'm pretty happy with 2.3.14.

Should we always do it? Sometimes new releases mean new troubles.

A common recommendation on gossip groups is to refrain from updates
and new releases of anything unless one has trouble.

What's your theory on this?

With any software, the best rule of thumb is "if it isn't broken, don't fix it."
