Can't Find a Create ICC profile

Can't Find a Create ICC profile

2006-07-10 by Tom Husband

I created a .icc profile (grayscale) using the template and dragging
it to the .exe file like all the other times before. The .icc profile
is created and I put it in the system32/drivers.color folder like all
the other times but now I can't see it in CS2 when I want to convert
to profile. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Tom

If you haven't done so, note that you have to restart photoshop before a new
ICC profile is visible.

BTW, you can simply right click an ICC profile and select Install Profile
and it will be placed in the appropriate windows folder.

Tom

It sounds like the problem is with the ICC profile creation. Perhaps Roy can
shed some light on this. It has happened to me ( a log time ago). As I
recall, it was a problem with my data being non-monotonic.

BTW here's a handy tool for inspecting ICC profiles:

Thanks Tom. I restarted CS2 but it wasn't there. I also tried the right
click install profile but get a message saying, "An error occurred while
installing(null). This is not a valid color profile." Could there be
something in Windows that's causing it? I get the same message with several
of the profiles I created before. Profiles I've used before. Not in some
time but I have used them. I also tried changing the name to .icm because
some of those profiles are OK but it made no difference.

Hi Tom,
the name of the profile begins with QTR_..... and then the name you
gave it when you dropped it on the create icc file. Maybe you
overlooked it?

Steven.

Tom,

It sounds like the data of the .icc file didn't get written out. Possibly the -out.txt
file that pops up has some info about this. If you can't figure out the cause
send me the input text file you are using and I'll check it out.

The right-click issue is known and annoying -- a gray icc is not a color profile.
But putting it in the right place will work as long as the .icc was created correctly.

Roy

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
