QTR with alternate color inksets

QTR with alternate color inksets

2006-09-03 by Steve German

Would QTR work with alternate color inksets for the 2200, such as
Lyson Cave Paint? Would it still generate similar results as with
Ultrachrome or would it require some custom curves?

Thanks,
Steve

You will need curves specific to the inks.

I looked over the instructions on curve creation, and I also looked
through the files and saw one for creating a gray target for Xrite
Pulse. So although it looks tricky, I should be able to do this using
my Pulse spectro for the density readings?? If and when I get there
would someone be able to give me a few pointers if I get into a jam?

Thanks again,
Steve

I think the Lyson Cave Paints are designed to match the Ultrachromes. If
they are a reasonable match you can use the same curves. I've used the
standard curves with my MIS PRO inkset, which is the MIS version of the
Ultrachromes.

It could be that the SpectroCam adaptions I made for Excel
will work if you want to do linearising and profiling with
your Pulse as well:
