Why Epson 3000 not supported by QTR

Why Epson 3000 not supported by QTR

2006-11-25 by ragarecords

Well, I finally figured out why the 3000 isn't supported by QTR.

I was able to make it work by taking the supplied documents for the 1160 and substituting
3000 for 1160 as needed. QTR works, and I was able to get a nice smooth linearized
greyscale. But unfortunately the dithering pattern is all too obvious...when compared with
prints from an 1160 running with the old Cone plugin, highlights have lost detail and
midtones show obvious and unpleasant dithering. (The same 3000 running under the Cone
plugin does not have this problem--prints are equal to those made by the 1160).

Clearly a problem with the Epson driver. If anyone has any ideas I'd be glad to hear them.
Although I am not in a bad position, being able to make good prints with the plugin, I enjoy
the flexibility and control of QTR.

Hi John,

I'm trying to get a 3000 running good, too. Any old profile files for the
3000 might help alot. I haven't found any, though there must be some out
there.

Which inkset? I've made a curve for a modified UT-FSN inkset in my 3000. I
don't know if the densities match anymore though. I found the inkset too
cool, so I added UT7-C and UT7-LC carbon to the inks until I got a warm
neutral tone.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
