How do you soft proof with new K7 Split Tone inks?

How do you soft proof with new K7 Split Tone inks?

2006-12-01 by Chris_LaFleur

I am a relative newbie trying to figure out how to soft proof in PS2 printing to an Epson 2200
with Inkjetmall's new K7 Split Tone inkset installed. When I was using the neutral set, this
was less of an issue, but now that tones have been introduced, I would like to be able to
quage their impact before I print. I have a profile installed entitled 'Lenswork' that comes
close to matching what I am printing, but it isn't quite right. I have searched the Inkjet Mall
sites, the QuadToneRIP site and this group's archives, but haven't found any guidance. (I also
emailed InkjetMall but didn't get any response.) Can anyone here give me some pointers?
Thanks in advance.

You can make a profile with QTR Create ICC and use that in PS for
both the softproof and printing. For the latter, you *convert* the
file to the profile before dragging it into QTR. I am currrently
doing this with the NK7 on a 4800.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
