K7 vs UC

K7 vs UC

2006-12-17 by Chris Barrett

I expect this has been asked before, but how do people like the Piezo
inks compared to Epson's Ultrachrome? I used the 4ink piezo setup in
my 1280 for years. But since my 4000 came with color ink I tried
that out with QTR and have been quite pleased, especially with the
ability to fine tune the warmth of my prints.

Are the carbon pigments of Cone's any more archival than the OEM stuff?

Other considerations?

Thanks,
Chris

Switched my 1280 from piezotone inks to the new K6 set up in September
and it, is in a word great - It is side by side with a 2200 using
Ultrachrome and both the ease of operation and the quality of the
prints are better - 2200 is still great for color - Prints from the 1280
w/k6 inkset, the NK6 print model from QTR and pre packaged curves have
been consistent, high quality and easy - Also the newer piezography ink
formula is way less prone to clogging
