Problem with QTR & R2400 manual single sheet rear feed

Problem with QTR & R2400 manual single sheet rear feed

2007-01-07 by Gary Benson

Hi folks,

I'm having difficulty with QTR and the manual single sheet rear feed
on my newly acquired R2400 (no problem with this on my 2200).

I tried printing an image that is about 6" high x 8" wide (landscape
orientation) on Letter paper (which I have printed many times before)
on Velvet Fine Art in the manual single sheet rear feed. I had
already printed this image using Photoshop CS thru the manual feed
with no problem (it's centered on the paper and the printer correctly
advanced the paper and positioned the image). When I tried to print
it with QTR, the paper was not advanced to the correct left margin but
instead started printing on the far left edge of the paper. In fact,
it began laying down ink before the paper was even lined up (ie. about
1/4 inch of the left side of the image was "printed" before the paper
came under the print head, I guess).

I was using a 2.3.x version of QTR at the time. Thinking it might be
a bug that was fixed in later versions, I upgraded to the current QTR
version 2.4.3.10 -- but the problem persists.

Am I doing something wrong or is there some trick to getting this
sorted out that I'm not aware of? Any help or advice is much
appreciated!!

Hello,

I get same problems with my R2400, printing an A4 by sheet feed, and
never get a print actually centered using rear feed for A3 print. I'm
using the last version of QTR.

It seems to be something wrong in the program.

Hi Roy -- any tips for us on sorting this problem out? Is it a
problem you are aware of and working to fix?

I would think the 2400 is a popular printer for QTR users. Not being
able to print on thicker fine art papers is not going to work for me.

Thanks.

I'm not aware of a problem with this. I have tested out the manual feed
for several cases and haven't had trouble.

Are you sure you are selecting: "Feed: Manual Roll (Rear)" ?
The R1800 and R2400 are both more picky about this than the 2200.
This is different than the way the Epson driver selects the Feed slot.

Hi Roy,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I'm using the "Manual Roll (Rear)"
setting. QTR and the rear sheet feed positions the paper fine with my
2200, but not my 2400 (not centered, prints off the left margin).
Rear sheet feed works fine thru Photoshop CS with both the 2200 &
2400. Windows XP, if that makes any difference.

Do you have a 2400 you could test this out on again? If not, perhaps
I'll post a note on the Digital BW Prints forum to see if there are
others having this problem (or not). Also, I have a friend with a
2400. I'll ask him to install QTR and test it on his system/printer.

Thanks for you help....I love QTR and am hoping to get it working 100%
with my R2400.

I use QTR with a 2400, Manual Roll (Rear), and Windows XP (fully
patched except IE6 rather than IE7) with no problems.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the confirmation that this is working for you. Roy also
tested it again with his 2400 and confirmed it is working fine. I
uninstalled QTR on my computer (Win XP, SP2) and then reinstalled
version 2.4.3.10 from scratch. I'm still having the same problem with
QTR printing on the leading edge of the paper, instead of centering
the image. Works fine with Photoshop/Epson driver. QTR works fine on
my 2200 attached to the same computer.

I'm at a loss as to what I can try next.
