Microbanding with 4800, any ways to adjust?

2007-01-16 by michael_mutmansky

I'm getting microbanding with the Epson 4800 when printig on film for digital negatives and
and trying to determine if there are ways to adjust the settings to eliminate it. I will try the
various dithering patterns in QTR, but I have one additional thought...

Does QTR override the printer paper configuation settings? I can set up a paper type in the
printer that has a specific adjustment to reduce the advance rate. That would eliminate the
banding if the problem were through the Epson driver, and also if QTR uses the basic
infrastructure to advance the paper that is part of the Epson command structure.

Roy, (or anyone) any thoughts on this?

This approach seems to work, so I think that QTR must be sending a simple 'advance'
command to the printer, rather than 'advance 0.01 mm' or whatever the dimension would
be.

However, I'm wondering if there is an easier way to do this, because I now have to
remember to activate the custom paper setting in the printer for all of the diginegs.
