EFI densitometer

2007-01-18 by andywebsterus

Always on the lookout for a bargain, I bought this EFI type ED-100 densi
off ebay recently. It's a mouse type colour densi. And I have no idea
what software it requires. I have a horrible feeling that the manufacturers
designated software is Mac. I'm PC.

Has anyone used this on a PC? What did you use? Any advice info
would be very welcome otherwise...... anyone wanna buy a straight-
from-the-box ED100.........?

Well, it's good news, bad, and maybe good news time.

The good news, the software for the ED-100 runs on the PC.

The bad news, the software is a large commercial RIP, the Firey
ColorServer.

The maybe good news is that Firey doesn't make the ED-100 densitometer
or ES-1000 spectro themselves. So, if you can find out what it
actually is, underneath the EFI brand, you should be able to get it going.

How much did they get you for this on eBay, just out of curiosity?

How much?

Well, the EFI ES-1000 spectro is a rebranded Gretag Eye-One. That's a
starting point for finding some support for the ED-100.

If it's a rebranded Gretag or X-Rite (which it well may be, since
EFI's spectro, the ES-1000 is a rebranded Eye-One) then the software
you need is KeyWizard (I did not make up that name).
