Help with curve 3 set to -Default- in print dialog on mac

2007-02-23 by brigsby707

Hi all,

It's been awhile since I posted (or printed regulary for that matter). But, I'm trying to get
back into working with QTR and my prints again. So, I installed the latest version of QTR
(2.5) and everything is working great. I was excited to see the option for Split-Tone Curve
Blending but after experimenting for a little bit, I have yet to figure out how to select a
third curve.

Quick overview of my system. Mac G5 running latest version of Tiger. Printing to Epson
7600 & 1280 using custom curves and profiles for custom variations of MIS UT inks on
various papers.

After setting up the image to print in PS CS2, in the QTR pulldown of the print dialog, I get
the following,

Curve 1: none
Curve 2: none
Curve 3: -Default-

I am able to select the curves for the first two and set the split tone sliders for them, but
when I click on the drop-down for Curve 3, there are no options for selection.

If anyone knows that I'm doing something wrong or has an idea how I can select a third
curve I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance,

Eric Ashworth

Hi Eric,

The "-Default-" in curve3 is an indication that in the OS QTR 2.4
driver info is still being used.

If you are using one of the standard scripts such as Install9600 or
Install1280 to create the
printer just re-running that will update this. This is the easiest way.

If you are using Printer Setup directly you can update to 2.5 with
Get Info > Printer Model > QuadToneRIP > pick your printer
or just delete and re-add the printer. With these ways you'll also
need to Run-Install-Curves

Thank You Roy,

I hadn't thought to run the install scripts as I forgot they installed
the printer drivers, and I don't use the provided curves. Just
running the printer install scripts took care of the problem and left
my custom curves in place. So I'm off to do some playing ... I mean
printing ;-)

Thanks again,

Eric

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
