QuadtoneRIP and Epson

2007-03-28 by lovinthesuntokyo

I'm just beginning to use QuadtoneRIP to print my Collodion plate negatives
and have a very beginner question involving setting up my software.
Let me explain:
I am using a Mac OS 10.4.9 system.
As I'm living in Japan, my printer is an Epson 4000 printer, which is the 2200 in the U.S.
On my computer I have the 4000 driver and downloaded the 2200 driver from Epson site.
However, I don't see the 2200 driver on my system profiler. I do not see it in applications
either. I do see Quad200-NK7 in my system profiler.
Now my problem is when I go to Print, in the Print window I choose QuadTone RIP, and
then go to select curves, but there are no curves! There is only None to choose from.
I went to the profiles folder and opened Install2200-K7 folder and clicked on install,
but the message I get is: Cannot find an Epson USB printer with the name 2200

Is it necessary to install RunInstall Curves, found in CurveDesign folder, or is there
something I am not noticing?

Please advise, so that I can begin printing my Collodions.

Thanks in advance.

Everett

Hi Everett,

I'm sorry for late reply.
I joined in this group several days ago, and read your mail a minute ago.

I am living in Japan and have PM-4000PX printer which is Stylus Photo 2200 in U.S., too.
And I installed QuadTone RIP to my MacOS 10.4.9, I can print without any problems.
How should you install it...

1. Add printer
After installing QuadTone RIP using "Install-QTR-2.5.X.pkg", add the printer
on "Print & Fax" in "System Preferences".
Click "+" button and choose your PM-4000PX printer connected by USB,
assign "QuadTone RIP 2.5 Epson 2200" driver, and RENAME "Quad2200"
	instead of "PM-4000PX".

2. Install profiles
Open "Profiles" folder in QTRIP2.5.X and choose a suitable folder for your
inkset.	If you are using Epson's genuine ink, choose "2100-2200-UC" and
	open it.
	And double click "Install2200".

That's all.

For MacOS 10.3.9, some other tips are needed to install QuadTone RIP with
Japanese PM-4000PX printer.
