QTR and Epson 4800

QTR and Epson 4800

2007-06-18 by Harley Goldman

I just downloaded QTR to give it a try. I have been experimenting with
Hahnemuehle Photo Rag 308 and Epson Enhanced Matte. I have been using
the canned curves that come with QTR for both those papers.

So far, I have been quite disappointed. I am finding that Advanced B&W
is giving me far more neutral tones and more impressive prints. The QTR
prints on both papers have some kind of weird color cast, which seems
to be slightly cyan. I have been playing with mixing the cool and warm
sliders in different percentages. So far, no mix of the two has given
me a print I like.

Any suggestions? Is there anything I could be doing wrong?

I recently had the same problem with several different papers
(including Epson Enhanced Matt) on a 2200. Nothing I did seemed to
help and then the blue cast simply stopped occurring. During this
period I did change cartridges which might have been the problem, but
can't pricesly relate the two.

I don't think my issue relates to the cartridges. I am getting
beautiful prints with Advanced B&W with the same carts. I am only
having problems with QTR.

QTR and Epson 4800

2008-04-11 by james.long23

I am doing some research on this product before I buy it and have a few
questions. 1)It appears that QTR will not work with a firewire
connection, is that correct? 2)Do you have to replace the current K#
inkset to use QTR? 3. Will you still be able to print color? and can
you print on any other media except mat finish.
Thanks for your replies

Funny thing but I'm sitting next to a 4800 FireWired into an XP-Pro
machine & it runs just fine. It may just be my rather wierd computer
system but it definitly does work & once you get use to it's
pecularities, it's a great combination.
regards

The "FireWire issue" is with Mac OSX so it does not apply to Windows.

Thanks. I'm currently printing via firewire and all my USB jacks are being used.

Do you plan an update that will allow the use of firewire on a Mac?

USB hubs are cheap. Get a powered USB 2.0 hub.
