Difference between C86 and R220

I'm getting my feet wet on B&W and I'll be buying either C86 or R220. Is there a big difference in quality of prints using 4 or 6 carts, since I've read some of the cartrdiges contain same density inks (in both printer sets) Any input on that? Ruben.
