"quadtoneprint" process quits before printing...

2005-07-02 by Ben

Hi all.

I'm an experienced Mac user and I've happily worked with a number of different RIPs in the
past. I'm trying Quadtone RIP for the first time with an Epson Stylus Photo 1290 (Euro name
for 1280) on OS X 10.4.1 and I'm having no success. No printout at all.

I've tried both the 2.2c and 2.2b version installs, I've verified that the drivers exist where they
should, and that their permissions are correct, but printing always fails silently and just
writes: "The process "quadtoneprint" terminated unexpectedly on signal 10" or something
similar to the system and CUPS logs.

Visiting the CUPS setup page (localhost:631) shows a successfully created and apparently
happy Quadtone printer queue but even hitting "Print Test Page" fails in this same manner.

One point to note: I do have iProof's PowerRIP X installed and available, but I have tried
deleting all queues for the Epson and only setting up the Quadtone printer, again with
identical results. The printer prints fine from both the iProof and standard Epson drivers.

Any advice? Anyone experienced this problem?

Thanks, Ben

Have you tried running the "DiagnosticScript" and sending the results to Roy? Roy can usually
figure it out from the results.
