K7 Sepia/Neutral curve in epson 2200

K7 Sepia/Neutral curve in epson 2200

2007-07-31 by jimmieotto

I just purchased the Sepia/Neutral K7 ink set for my Epson 2200 and don't see the option to
use the Sepia ink set in the output curve/profile. I am using QTR ver2.5.1 on Mac OSX. I can
print using my Neutral K7 ink set with no problem.

I read that there are a set of four profiles for each paper:
warm - K, LK, and LLK inks i.e. carbon only
neut - neutral tone throughout the range
cool - cool tone
sepia - a reddish brown sepia (mix with warm for more yellowish)

yet I do not find these in the print dialog. When using PSCS3 I can see these profiles when I
soft proof.

Thank you,

Jim Otto

Currently, Cone K7 inks are available for the 2200 in Neutral, Sepia
or Split Tone sets. The densities are the same for each, regardless of
toning, so a single curve for each paper used is all you need. This
means you can use (for example) the K7 curve for Innova Smooth Cotton
with any of the sets above.

There are 4 profiles in QTR for some inksets (i.e.
warm/neutral/cool/sepia), but not for K7. K7 inks are fixed in tone
and use the 7 slots for 7 densities. Other inksets have fewer
densities (e.g. 3 shades of gray) but add toners so you can create
cool, warm, etc. Two different design approaches.

Cone will be releasing Warm and Selenium inks for the 2200 down the road.

Terry.

For all the K7 ink sets you use the same profiles. The inks have no
variability in
tone - you just get the ink that's there. The varaible tone profiles you
found are
for Epson color inks.
