Hello, Just changed from K3 to Piezography K7 in my Epson 7800. With K3 I not have problem for linearize, but with the new K7 I'm a bit confused. The only Ink Description Files (*.qidf) I have found are for the 2100, 2200 and 4000. I can use some of these archives for linearize the 7800? which would be the most similar model? Thanks and saludos, jose.

The K7 profiles are supplied by the Piezo people and they can not be relinearized in the standard way since they don't have .qidf files. In practice its probably not absolutely necessary - the new printers are very consistant. Another way to do it though is to use ICC profiles. You can create an ICC profile with QTR-Create-ICC and have the same benefit as relinearizing and get softproofing in Photoshop too. Thanks Roy! I hope that with new ICC softproof profile in PS can improve the output in QTR. saludos, jose.

But what about the relinearizing? What do I have to do with the 'new' profile? (btw: the custom profiles from IJM for K7 are very linear already when I measured them with a specrometer and 'trhow' them on the Linearize.exe) thanks, Steven.

Steven, Just use the ICC profile you created for printing you'll get exactly the same effect as relinearizing the QTR profile plus you get the color management system to match it to the embedded profile of your image. Roy
