Printer choice

2007-08-28 by corvette_bare

I'm about to buy a new printer but I want to plan ahead so I can
integrate it with my B&W workflow and QTR. Between the Epson 3800 and
the 4800, has anyone had the opportunity to work with both and be able
to "Pro and Con" the two machines as to their suitability for B&W work?

Thanks all.

Cheers

The basic printing quality is the same for both printers.

But there are a couple differences that may make a difference for you:

4800: bigger ink carts, sheet and roll paper.
3800: easier switch between matte and photo black, no roll paper.

HOWEVER..Piezo inks show no signs of support yet for the 3800.
