Using MIS-Ebony black with Ultra Chrome

Using MIS-Ebony black with Ultra Chrome

2007-08-30 by cwb1946

I am experimenting using just the ebony matte black with the rest of my Ultrachrome inks on
my 7600, to get a little more d-max. I use the Quadtone profiles for Enhanced mat paper
and Hanhamuhle photo rag paper. Questions:

1.Should I make an entirely new profile for these paper-ink combinations?

2. Has someone done this already, as I don't know how to do this?

3. Is there a simpler work around for this?

4. Are there instructions for making new profiles, or adapting existing ones for these papers?

Thanks.

Not a direct answer to your question, but the difference in dmax between Eboni and UC black will vary by paper. Some papers get a better dmax with UC black, some better with Eboni. To get the max benefit you should have curves built for Eboni. Otherwise, you're just guessing.
