QTR for Epson R1800 : something wrong with the driver?

QTR for Epson R1800 : something wrong with the driver?

2007-10-15 by rip_id2857

At home I have tried QTR with my epson R800 (not R1800) and it seems
to work fine....nice prints with gloss optimizer.
I wanted to try to make a print at school on the R1800 using the same
curve (so opened it and saved it for the R1800), but it doesn't want
to print the "gloss". I really tried all possible but without success.
I even replaced the R1800 with another one , but still the problem
remains.

I'm suspecting that there must be something wrong with the QTR driver
for Epson R1800 . Maybe someone experienced the same problem?

Hopefully someone can help me with this.

Thanks in advance,
Herman

Hi Herman,

I don't have any idea why you'd be getting a difference. I know a
number of people
are using the R1800 with the gloss ink slot -- Paul uses it for the
3MK ink setup.
If you want to email me the .qidf file and .quad file I'll check them out.
(they are under ...\quadtone\... ...\profiles\... )

Hi Herman

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I'm a new member, and part of the reason I
joined was a similar problem. When I print using Epson's Premium Luster paper, there
doesn't seem to be a way to activate the gloss cartridge. Without it, the QTR prints easily
smudge. Any ideas?

Thanks so much.... -John

I just made four custom profiles today for the 3-PKN inkset in my
1800 that use glop and they work fine. Look at your curve file and
see if there is a glop curve.

Carl,

It appears that the Glop versions of the four curves were not included in the .zip....C R B only, no Glop.

Joe,

Download again and look in the quad files folder. There are both
glop and regular versions of each .quad file. The curve descriptors
(text files) do not have the glop curves.
