R2400 for Black Only printing

I'm struggling with QTR to make prints on the R2400 useing just the black cartridge. When I get the curve right they have a beautiful quality so I know its worth persevering. Is anyone else out there doing this with the R2400 and I wondered if anyone had a curve or profile for any particular paper.
