Raw Papers??

Raw Papers??

2008-04-06 by nsams2002

Working with Quadtone RIP Interface 2.6, under "Curve Settings", I find
settings for "Raw." There are Raw UCmk and UCpk. So, what does
the "raw" indicate? I'm familiar with shooting in raw format, but does
that have anything to with the papers listed under "Curve Settings"?
And what does the UCmk and UCpk mean? Thanks in advance from Norm.

UCmk stands for UltraChrome Matte Black (Black = K)
UCpk stands for UltraChrome Photo Black

I never noticed the "raw" paper, most likely I use a different
printer, but I noticed it now under the R2400. I can only guess that
it is a kind of basic/general purpose/raw curve, perhaps for uncoated
paper? Definitely nothing to do with raw file format

It's only in the curve set-up for my Epson 3800 printer, not 2100.

The "Raw" curves are just non-linearized curves. For the most part
these are what
most of the curves are based on. I.e. print out a stepwedge on a new
paper, unless
there's something to tweak just linearize and you're done.
