Calibration and Hitting the Highest DMAX

When using the claibration slider to lay down a certin amountof ink with QTR, how much difference are you looking for between Dmax values. I have a Sypder 3 specttrophotometer which allows precise density measurements. As I move between values like 1.63, 1.65, 1.66, 1.67, 1.68, where do I stop. At the very highest I can achieve, or do you hit the law of diminishing return. Say at 70% I can achieve 1.65, bit at 80% I can achieve 1.67. Should I stay with 80% or drop to 70%? Thanks Paul Bien
