which printer profile?

Here's the environment rundown: OS X 10.4.11, QTR 2.6.1, PowerbookPro, CS2, Epson 2200 Standard Epson UC ink set, various papers. Quick question: When in the "print with preview" dialog in CS2 when selecting a "Printer Profile", I used to choose the profile for the paper I was printing on and the results seemed fine. Now, after calibrating the system with Spyder3 Studio (monitor and various papers) I seem to get better results in B/W with QTR when I select the Gamma 2.2 which is also the working profile. When looking at the 21 step the black is substantially blacker in G2.2 then whatever paper profile, say Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. When using a paper profile the last step is actually lighter that the second to the last step which would imply over inking, yet this does not seem to be happening in G2.2. Is this normal or should I redo my paper profiles maybe? Any thoughts? Thanks! coffinphoto.com
