No Curve

No Curve

2008-05-25 by greenparsdopa

hello, I try to looking for some topic about this but I did'd found nothing about it.

I've just done the installation of quadtone 2.6.1 for mac osx 10.4.11.

My printer is stylus photo R285. Into the profile folder this model is colled R280, the
american name of the same epson pinter.

My problem is that when I open the printer dialog I cannot see "curve" into the selector of
the quadtone rip interface
. The totorial said to run the script that I found into the profile folder of my printer but the
script report me this message:

Cannot find an Epson USB printer with the name R280

The printer must be turned on, plugged in to computer and ready
Resetting the printer may be necessary.

The firewire port cannot be used for QuadToneRIP. If you are already using
firewire you must switch over to USB. Do not plug in both USB and firewire.

For network printers, please enter an IPP address for your printer.
The address is a 4 part number such as 192.38.103.34
Enter IPP number or <return> to cancel:

My printer is torned on and plgged to the computer.

Could be unsupported print model to couse the problem?

Hi, you have to rename the printer as r280, then install the curve
with the right command in the profiles directory. I just did it on my
mac yesterday.

Just found this old thread. I'm planning to buy an Epson r285 for experiments with B&W ink setups (in addition to my Epson 3800 with OEM inks).

As QTR does not list the R285, my assumption is that I should indeed use the R280 option, as supposed to be the US equivalent to the European R285. Does the described trick for Mac also work for PC (Vista)? I'd rather know before ending up with an printer I can't use....;-)

Joost,

From a press announcement at their release, R280 and R285 are the same.
