21x4 random and Spyder Pro software

2008-06-24 by brouwerkent

Newbie question about profile targets for QTR. I read the Calibration
Procedure by James Haney, and it states that the 21x4 target is best
target for smoothest results. But I am a wee bit confused. I will be
reading this with a Spyder Print spectro, and I see the Quadtone Rip
output setting within the Spyder Print software. Looks like the
output from Spyder Pro is formatted correctly.

So where do I start and end as I read each patch?

So how does QTR know that I am using this 21x4 RANDOM target? I can
understand how a step wedge read in order of light to dark would be
ok, but the 21x4 random target is indeed random. Confused???

I have been using IJC-OPM...so the transition to profiling in QTR is
bit of a learning curve...

But I am committed to learning this QTR, as IJC-OPM seems to be on a
path to nowhere in support of newer printers. Anxious to move on to a
newer printer. I want to make my own profiles...for my own
satisfaction of getting the most of my materials.

Thanks for any input you can offer. And yes, I have read the tutorial
texts.

You need to use the .txt file that matches the TIFF or JPG or whatever
they give you.

Your measuring software will have to use the .txt file so taht it knows
what it is supposed to be reading. Not familiar with your spectro, I
have an i1.

Best,
Michael
