First Install of QTR

First Install of QTR

2008-08-29 by the1940kid

I just downloaded QTR_Setup_2.6.1.EXE and am trying to install it on
my PC. It goes through all the motions, but never gives me an
opportunity to select a printer. I've tried everything I can think of
including "intall a new printer" under windows, but can't make any
progress.

I reinstalled my Epson 2200 using USB instead of IEEE1394, but no
improvement.

The QTR program seems to unzip a lot of files and put them on my
computer, but I can only get to them separately through the QTRgui and
not through the print menu on CS3 or Lightroom.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Steve Rupp

While I am a bit new to QTR, here are two things to check...

-- is the printer connected to the computer via USB?? needs to be
connected to run the install script.

-- after your download and unzipping the files, you need to go into
the "profiles" folder and select the appropriate folder for your
printer and ink combination. Probably the folder labeled "2100-2200-
UC" if you are using the standard Epson inks. Open the folder and you
will see two install scripts...choose the "install2200.comand" file
and it will run a quick script. Close your windows and if CS3 or
Lightroom are running close them down and restart...after this the
printer -- Quad 2200 -- should show-up.

Hopefully, this will help...best of luck!

On the PC QTRgui IS the way to print. Since QTR doesn't use the Windows
print drivers, other applications can't see it. References to printing
from Photoshop and Lightroom come from people using Macs.

You do not install printers for the PC version. Instead you select your
printer (like you do for other windows appliations) and also select a
printing model. There is a bar on the upper right side of the Window labeled
printer. If it is not 'open' click on it and it will open up and allow you
to select these items.

My apologies as I am on a Mac and didn't pick-up that you were using a
PC...

Thanks Bishop:
I just took a class in digital B&W photography and printing. It was given on Macs and was so easy to use. What a wonderful option for Mac people. I might have to join the crowd.
With my PC, I'll try creating a file out of Lightroom and then use the QTRgui to print. It's awkward, but sounds like it will work. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks again, Steve Rupp, McMinnville, Oregon, USA
