Soft Proofing for Photoshop

Soft Proofing for Photoshop

2005-08-11 by steinbe2003

I am using i1match for B&W soft proofing for photoshop and following Roy's Delineated
procedure. I have one problem. When I open up Target 51 the Embedded Profile Mismatch
Dialogue Box Asks me how I want to proceed?
   a) Use embedded profile
   b) Convert to working space (My working space is Adobe RGB 1998)
   c) Discard embedded profile (don't color manage}
Which is the appropriate choice?
Thanks for your help.

Howard

I'm a bit of a newbies in this, but my understanding is that the
i1match procedure is an "old" one. The new beta QTR2.3 (totally
stable for me on XP) includes a QTR-Create-ICC droplet that does a
profiling job and supposedly provide a sooft-proofing
capability. "Supposedly" not meaning it doesn't work, just meaning I
haven't yet manage to understand HOW it works. Except Media white
shift I see nothing. But that may well be it : the profile conversion
processes the print in a compressed printer space that looks like the
screen image except Black (for reason Roy past explained) which would
eventually make sense in a gray environment... Can't tell you more.

(c) don't color manage.

This scheme is based on the idea that you want to soft proof a non-color-managed
workflow. So when you print it out you use Same As Source or No Color
Management.

Thanks for the comments. I've had some trouble downloading the measure tool. But I will
try some more before asking questions of the group. Thanks again.
