Create-icc and Epson driver?

I am using an Epson 3800. I have created a .icc file in the approved way. When I print from Photoshop with Photoshop Manages Colors and the Epson ABW print driver (same settings of course) the prints are darker and the blacks are blocked up, compared to Printer Manages Colors. Is it that Create-icc profiles can only be used with QTR printing, or am I doing something wrong? Details Print QTR-51-random / pshop does not color manage, printer manages colors, ABW normal (I repeated test with ABW dark, same problem) all other ABW settings neutral. MeasureTool/eye-one -> .txt file Create-icc. Image in grayscale Gray Gamma 2.2, 16-bit, flattened Proof with new .icc file, perceptual. Very slight changes in darks visible. Print with Pshop Manages Colors, selecting new .icc file, perceptual, and same Epson ABW settings. Result is dark with blacks blocked. I appreciate in advance any help, - susan
