New to QTR and Creating curves, at a bit of a loss on where to continue.

First off I'd like to thank you for reading this thread, and I ask that you bear with me as I am quite new to QTR. I followed the guidelines in the PDF explaining how to create a custom curve to the following point: I printed the 21x4-random greyscale step chart on a piece of my desired media (Hahnemuhle Museum Etching). I then moved the reference file for said chart to the EyeOne folder of ProfileMaker, opened up MeasureTool, took a reading of the chart step by step; and finally outputted the .txt file with all of the Lab readings that I took. From there I converted that txt into the graphed Lab values using Drop-Quad-Profile. This is the point at which I get very lost and confused. The next step in the process calls for a creation of the "ink description file", with no truely informative instructions on doing so that I have been able to find. I tried copying one of the example ink descriptions files from the examples folder and slightly modifying it, but the results were very poor. Firstly, the printer I am using is a Epson 2200, which has a 7 ink set, but the most inks used on any of the examples was 6. This I suppose could be a factor. Now, this next part is where I do something stupid, but with the instructions I have, I didn't know what else to try. After copying the example ink description file and altering it to the best I could, I created the curve, and printed the "Step-21-gray" file as suggested. I did not alter the "LINEARIZE" at the bottom of the ink description file before making the curve. The resulting print (from a greyscale file) was a yellow --->green ---> blue ---> black step chart. Being very confused, I figured that I was probably suppost to take the LINEARIZE data from the first print I made and add it to the ink description file that I created, then print and re-read to linearize. The result was even worse when I attempted this, with even more out of whack colors (again, from a greyscale file!!!). I know this has been incredibly long, perhaps confusing, and ignorant, but I am at my wits end with this. Any help you could give to me would be absolutely appreciated to the fullest. -Michael B.
