Quad printer off line? Why?

Quad printer off line? Why?

2009-05-11 by Harry Lockwood

After fooling around with my (R2400) CIS system and getting back to printing under QTR, I ran into a roadblock. When attempting to print I get the message ""Printer Off line." This is clearly not the case because I can print using the Epson driver.

I've changed USB cables, choice of sockets, restarting printer, restarting the iMac, and finally, I reinstalled the QTR application - all to no avail. The same message appears.

Somehow the above message got posted before I finished composing.

The printer is properly displayed as QuadR2400-K7, indicating my use of Piezo inks.

I've never seen a problem like this before.

Suggestions much appreciated.

After further investigation - different computer, different OS - this appears to be a printer problem. I'll have Epson take a look.

Problem solved by Epson. It was not a printer problem, as such. Somehow the computer was accessing the wrong driver. When all drivers were deleted and reinstalled, things returned to normal.
