QTR with non-tiff files?

QTR with non-tiff files?

2009-12-30 by paulmwhiting

Does anyone know of a workaround or something to permit printing non-tiff files in QTR? My R1800 is using the 3MK cartridge setup and I'm quite happy with the results. But it would be handy to be able to print other files such as .jpg or even, believe it not, .wpd (WordPerfect) files or Microsoft Publisher files.

Thanks all, and Happy New Year!

Printing JPEGs is an old wish...

A (clumsy) workaround to print from basically every application is to print to PDF (with e.g. Acrobat of PDFCreator) and convert from PDF to TIF with Acrobat reader.

Thanks, Joost,

PDF Creator is a new one for me, I wasn't aware there was such a program. I may have to get that.

But although I have the current version of Acrobat reader, I don't see any option of saving a PDF as a TIF file. Am I missing something here?

Happy New Year!

Paul,

Acrobat reader does not allow you to modify or save files. It is purely to enable you to read them.

You need the full version of Acrobat, I have just tried a pdf file with version 8 and saved. A 4 page newsletter with the original in pdf format was saved as 4 separate TIFF files.

Another program I have, PDF converter also will allow a save as a TIFF file.

Both programs allow saving in a number of formats.

Hope this is of some help.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for correcting. I'm using Acrobat right now myself but in the past I used some free tool to convert PDF to TIF. I thought it was Acrobat Reader but apparently I'm mistaken.

Thanks, Jim, that's what I thought.

Is that the same as the PDF Creator program?

Paul,

I understand PDF Converter I have, by Nuance software, is a different program to the one you mention, pdf-Creator.

Both, and doubtless many more, do similar tasks.
