Is it worth printing in 16 bits ?

Probably discussed here before, but could not find the answer. Is there any real world advantage in printing 16 bits grayscale files using QTR in 16 bits print mode, or 8 bits files and 8 bits printing will do just the same (after all manipulations done, of course). Best,Andr�
