QTR-Quadtone RIP

with the kind help of several people in the group, i was able to get a
black and white image on epson matte paper using epson ink...  good
solid black shadow base but too contrasty and overall dark.. i used a
couple of suggested curves but need to know more about adjusting the
brightness and the contrast of the image.  i''ve worked with photoshop
for years and have had good success with desat images using 'curves' and
'levels' controls in that program.. any suggestions to improve my QTR
black and whites will be much appreciated!      tom hodge
