Epson1400 UT14 Noob Question

Epson1400 UT14 Noob Question

2010-05-07 by grimmieoldfart

Hello everyone,

As a noob to this groiup I have been doing alot of reading and behind the scenes playing and I think I am within inches of epiphany. I just need a little push/confirmation, if you will.

So if anyone is willing to lend this Missouri hillbilly a moment of wisdom...

I am using QTR on a Epson1400 with the MIS UT14 inkset. When I partition/profile these inks;

I am assuming I would partition in the standard method, using all five inks (minus GLOP)to determine relative denisties as a complete set.

Second step would be to create three profiles for Black Only, the Cyan (Cool) Channel, and a third channel of the "Warm" Magneta inks, such that;

Profile 1: Black Only (GLOP only as required)
Profile 2: Cyan & Lt Cyan
Profile 3: Magenta & Lt Magenta

Now comes the tricky part:
 -Or should I include black ink into Profiles 2 & 3?
 -What about the actual relative denisty partitioning? I am assuming I should perform this task according to instructions, as a complete inkset. Or should I set the color channels such that C = 100% and LC = 32% vice what they would normally be? Does this make sense?

I thinking, in my wee little brain that afetr reading the 3MK for the 1800, this would be the most flexible approach- maybe even the "right way"

I think I have reead almost everything under the sun and could have easyily over looked this topic if it is discused else where.

I thank you all for your wisdom, time, and bid you all a very enjoyable weekend.
