Not Printing from Mac 10.6.6

Not Printing from Mac 10.6.6

2011-02-15 by john

QTR is loading with ethernet connection, curves are installing for Epson 3800.

But when I go to print after selecting correct settings I immediately get a red exclamation point error in the printer driver cue.

I don't get it. I've been working on this for a week. Using PK ink in printer and PK curve in QTR.

Anyone know what to try next?

USB won't even load the curves but they are installing over a network connection.

With USB connection ( tried two cords) QTR says can't find the 3800 printer (Mac 10.6.6).

With ethernet it will install program with curves and all and then flashes error message when trying to print.

I've reloaded everything several times.

Hi John,

Go to System Preferences > Print& Fax. Hit the + button.
If you don't see 3800 printer and Kind = USB your machine does not know about
or see the USB connection to printer.

Do you have an Epson driver connected to the printer? How?
If you have any existing Quad printers I'd delete then (the - button
in Print&Fax) first.
Then tell us what you are actually doing to try to connect.

Thanks for the input Roy.

This 3800 is at a friends how so I can't test it again right now. I tried two days to set this up, going through PS CS4/latest Snow Leopard.

But you are correct, it was not recognizing QTRs printer software through the usb connection. It is a new quad mac and I tried several ports and two cords, one a short one.

The odd thing is this person is printing fine via ethernet to the 3800 and QTR will load that way. But in that network configuration, the curves won't load to make QTR operational. That was very strange.

I'll pass on this info to the client.

I appreciate it.

John

Look at the Tutorial.pdf last page -- its about Bonjour printing which
is an ethernet connection.
It says for Leopard 10.5 but 10.6 is the same. If you do this exact
sequence you'll get the profiles.
Make sure you do 1), 2), 3) on the screen and last line afterward.

I'd actually recommend working on the USB connection try other USB
devices to see if the
port is broken.

Once again, I really appreciate your help Roy.

I sent your instructions on to my friend. She is printing fine with the ethernet and the epson driver for K3. I just couldn't load the curves as I normally do.
