Curves list in QTR GUI

Curves list in QTR GUI

2011-05-20 by lockhart1969

Hey Folks,

I have started using the Windows version QTR lately and in getting my ideal curve for digital negatives I experimented quite a bit and created a lot of different variations.

Now I would like to remove all of the old 'junk' curves from the list and just keep the ones I use. However, no matter how many curve files I delete or how many time I try to uninstall QTR, clean up, and re-install the old profiles keep showing up in the list.

Any ideas on where this data lives?

Thanks,

- John Lockhart

depends which version of windows you are using.
best thing is to search your windows HD with one of the file names.

I'm not sure if this is the issue, but in my system under C:\Program Files
(x86)\QuadToneRIP262 there is a "Profiles" folder, which is where the *.qidf
are that the Curve Creator works on, and there is a "QuadTone" folder, where
the *.quad files are stored. The quad files are what show up in the QTR
Gui. So, you have 2 different files to delete.

Yes but Windows 7, for example, has another virtual store location.
Only way to find them for sure is to search.

Right, I'd forgotten that. Here it is in my computer for my 1400 profiles:
C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files
(x86)\QuadToneRIP262\QuadTone\Quad1400-MIS

I put a shortcut on my desktop to get into this area
-- C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files
(x86)\QuadToneRIP262 (I use this version). Then I can go to either the
profiles or quadtone files easily -- for any that I've been using.

I also use shortcuts to get to data like the Spyder spectro data that is
also buried in these folders. MS's W7 doesn't like data in the program
area.

Thanks guys. That was it. The virtual store location was what I could not find.

In Windows7 you can also create a library that consolidates all of the
folders you want into one place. For example, I have a library called "QTR"
that contains The Virtual Store folder, the Program Files(x86)\QuadtoneRIP
folder, a set of folders that hold my customized QIDF files - plus some
other ink/printing related stuff. One stop shopping. The folders and files
aren't moved or copied into the Library but you can act on them just as you
can in their actual places. You have to be a bit careful - you can remove a
folder from the library (in the Properties dialog for the particular
library), but if you delete a folder (or a file) that is in the library,
then you're deleting the real thing. Also, if you delete a library, then the
actual files and folders are retained - you're simply removing all of the
pointers to the folders and files that were in the library. Clear as Eboni?
