Quadtone RIP and the Epson 2880

I have downloaded QTR and would like to use it along with the pre-installed curves on my Epson 2880 to print black and white. This is not BO printing since the 2880 has a full set of color inks. My question is this: Does QTR control of the 2880 help to achieve better black/white results - tonality, true black,etc.. - than I would achieve simply by using the ABW setting in Photoshop Elements? QTR does seem to recognize the 2880 as one of its printers so I am assuming it has the capability to achieve better BW results than other alternatives. Thanks.
