QTR for Epson R3000 on printable film

QTR for Epson R3000 on printable film

2011-12-31 by Dave

Hello,

I have just recently ordered the R3000 for printing solid black images on a product called AccuArt printable film by Anderson Vreeland. This film is transparent with a water based coating on the printable side to allow bonding of the K3 ink. This process is used in the Dallas area for creating films for light exposure to the photoresist coating of both copper and magnesium for stamping dies for the printing industry.

My question:

Companies using this process with Epson 7600 and 7800 printers using the same film and K3 inks also use RIP software (Wasatch). According to these companies, the rip software allows the printer to lay down an opaque layer of ink using all or most of the colors cartridges.

Is this true? The images that will be printed on this film will be solid black with no grayscale.

There is a significant cost difference between Wasatch and QTR. Will QTR work for this process? is QTR or another rip even required?

I am expecting delivery if the printer on Jan 5, so I have not done any preliminary testing.

Regards,
Dave Streater
