Powering the 181 Keyboard

Powering the 181 Keyboard

2006-06-23 by Captain Quality

What are the power requirements for the 181 keyboard?
Does it have an onboard power supply? What sort of external connector
does it have for power?

I bought a 181 to use as a CV controller for a non-Roland modular.
Anyone else doing this?

Try:

http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Roland/System-100m/

where they have the System-100m service manual as a set of JPGs.

Hopefully that'll give you all the info.

Cheers,

T

Thanks for the link, but I could not find the power requirements there.
Does the keyboard require 15v +/- like the modules do?

Great, thanks!
I didn't notice that you have the power requirements on the first
page. The DIN cable page is very useful too.

Your "service notes" PDF does not seem to be working though.

hi

you can very easy make a suitable +/- 15 v psu with this
velleman symmetric psu kit

http://www.velleman.be/ot/en/product/view/?id=353668

+ a suitable transformer

and put it all in the 181 kbd

cheers

Re: Powering the 181 Keyboard

I just got a 181 keyboard that I'm going to be using with my MOTM
system. I'm going to change out the DIN connector with a 7-pin, then
put the 7-pin connector on a MOTM panel and power the 181 from the MOTM
power supply. It has very low current requirements; no more than 40ma
per 15V leg (bipolar). The reason I'm changing to 7-pins is so that I
can get the bender output through the multiconductor cable as well.

Ivan
