New Modules

New Modules

2007-05-24 by ryktnk

Hello Group.

Have been working on some new 100m Modules.[!]
[well one from history and one from new]

170 Pitch to Voltage converter/Envelope Follower
175 Triple Vactrol Bandpass Filter

The 170 is based on the module from
the Roland 700 system, but modified to work
with the 100m.

The 175 is similar to the Korg Resonator, but
can be used in series or parallel with mixed
outputs, or as three separate filters. Plus
control for resonance.

Might make more than one, would anybody be
interested in buying it?
This might make the panels cheaper, as they
are expensive for one.

Dont hold you breath tho, I have a day job !

Here's a link to the sequencer made from
MFOS design.

hello,
yes, i would be interested for the 175 triple vactrol
bandpass filter.
also, if you would make an 183 sequencer like that in
the pic, i would be interested in that too!
what would the prices per module be, roughly?
best regards,
Bakis.

Re: New Modules

2007-05-25 by ryktnk

Hello.

Sorry I dont think I can make the
sequencer again !
It is very fiddly, and those Roland
knobs are super expensive.
[Maybe a simpler version in the future]

The 175 is a bit easier [less controls]
The price I have not worked out yet, due
to quotes on the panel manufacture.
But wont be cheap, probably at least £275.

If you can't build it, I'd be interested in giving it a shot

Can you send me the BOM (bill of materials) and the schematics?

Re: [RolandSystem100m] Re: New Modules

2007-06-04 by R J

As someone else commented on the site with the seq picts, "Nice work!" Looks very professional. I would also be interested in a 175... 275 'aint expensive when you consider it's for a module that "never existed" for a system long since dead. It's not too far out of line with what other current manufacture filter modules cost from other companies such as MOTM or Cyndustries... in fact "they" are a bit more expensive if I did the exchange rate calculations correctly.

Put me down for one.

Now what I would like to see is a vacuum tube based wave shaper/distortion module using some tiny "subminiature" dual triode tubes (they are only about 35mm long and maybe 5-10mm wide). That would be sweet... and would help me find something to do with the several thousand pieces I have in my garage right now. =)

Hello

Thanks for the comments.
Will post some samples of the prototype
later, and panel design layout.

Probably finished in August, as I
have to go away on business for a month.

Re: New Modules

2007-06-09 by ryktnk

Hello

It is based on the Korg PS3100 Resonator circuit, as
is the the Fonik one, so they are similar.
Except this version has individual resonance feedback circuits
for each filter, so the resonance can be increased up to
oscillation.
Also I added separate channels for each
filter output so you can mix the filters in stereo
or just use them as three completely independent filters.

Hope that of helps.

Re: New Modules

PS

I forgot, I recently changed the filter caps
for increased freq range.
The original Korg one is about 40hz -> 2Khz
With the different caps it is about 40hz -4.2kz
also taken out the lo-pass input stage, as this
restricts the high-freqs.

This is worth doing if you are building the original
or Mr Fonik's design.
