Subject: [AH] Midi on MKS-80

hi,

Can someone tell me about the midi on the MKS-80? I realize its probably
limited because of the age but sonicstate.com says it receives velocity and
pressure sensitivity. Do the knobs on the MPG-80 send midi sysex like the
Juno 106? Is there a way to control the cutoff (standard midi cc #74 I
believe), or in other words, have the cutoff receive when controlled via an
external keyboard or sequencer. Please email me the midi info details.

Thanks a lot,

Shawn

Yes, I'm sure quite a few people could, as it's the only way to play one :)

They are correct. It can receive velocity and channel aftertouch.

That's a good question. I believe they send very similar data. I don't
have an MPG-80, and this issue is not addressed in the service notes. I
would get software like Kurzweil's MIDIScope and look at it.

Yes, you can assign the LPF cutoff frequency to aftertouch.

Modwheel can control filter cutoff. This is done by
switching mod wheel from vibrato (no more hendrix
solos). Smoother control than sysex control, which is
also possible.
