This talk of backing up reminds me of a question I wanted to ask.
My J8 came with what looks like a patch list of at least 8 banks of
sounds in the documentation. Did the original patch cassette come
with this many banks of sounds? or was it 8 seperate cassettes?

If anyone has factory or interesting patch cassettes laying around
or ones that they could copy for me (cass or cd) I would really
appreciate it and would be happy to pay for them.

thanks,

Bryan Carrigan

Good question(s). I don't own these 'original' patches on sheet. I'd
appriciate a xerox version or a digital version (if they're/could be made
available on the net?).

Well, these ARE available through Music Machines on the net.
http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Roland/Jupiter/ is the URL to
point your browser at. The original factory presets are recorded to a
WAV-file you can download for free. I still have to check them out myself...
but I trust they work just fine.

Cheers,

Upon further inspection, the patch sheets that I have are file numbers:
11,12,13,17,81,82, and 83 ? do you think there were 80-some banks
of sounds ? Weird.

I suspect that these numbers should be read as:
11 - Bank 1, patch 1
12 - Bank 1, patch 2
...
83 - Bank 8, patch 3

That makes a total of 8 times 8 memory locations which result in 64 patches
that can be stored in a 8-number calculus system.

Just a matter of getting used to.

Cheers,
RVe

No, each file number has 64 different patches listed.

Wow, that's a great lot. I couldn't suspect that you had actually 64 patches
within each 'file'. If this really is the case, I'm most interested in a
copy! Do you think we could arrange something, or even make them available
on the net by putting scans online?

Let me know.

Cheers again....I'm getting drunk now...
