The Alpha's you are speaking about are probably all 50K linear, outside of any requirements for log pots. On that however, I am currently repairing the black-faced six panel which used to belong to Serge designer Darrel Johansen, which is now property of Cal Arts and can be seen in the historic section of the EGRES site, and everything I've seen thus far is a 50K linear.
Alpha Pots are excellent - have no fear in using them.
BTW, just removed yesterday from this system was a rather curious interface for computer control of this machine. There was a large 50 or so pin connector hanging from its rear quarters, which was fed directly into the TBK and quantizer boards and had arteries which went to four banana jacks located on the sides of each of the six panels.
Problem was, it was causing some serious stray capacitance and keeping 10 of the 16 touchplates from operating -and- God knows how it worked, what software or even what computer system was required to fire it up.

serge presently uses "alpha" pots but i can't really tell you more than that. i had two pots go out on me in rapid succession a couple years ago, and rex sent along a handful of pots which, according to him, are generic thru out the serge. i've checked my stashed and they have nothing more than the name "alpha" on them. my filter FC control and another pot needed replacing, so i assume these are for CV and not audio. they have the typical new serge feel to them. quite nice.
