I did not do this nor would I. Although I really like banana patching and
the elimination of multiples, I would never hack up my Wiard in that way.
The Wiard is also heavily normaled (this was done in part as a means to
the end that Bill was describing, i.e. the "System" concept) so one would
destroy some of it's functionality by replacing the 1/8" jacks with bananas.
I also like the compactness of the Wiard system which, again, is in part due
to the use of the 1/8" jacks. When I want to interface the two systems
(or either with 1/4" devices) I use a little box that I built that has a three
rows of connectors. One row of each type connected together down the
columns. There is also one banana jack on it that runs to the ground (the
sleeve connection) on all the phone style jacks. I connect that patch point
to the ground jack on my PSU and I'm set to patch (I got the little utility
box at Radio Shack. It is big enough to support eight columns of connectors.
It's light, looks good, and is very versitile for general interconnecting).
[Hi Bill, long time no see - I still use and like the TX802 I bought from you
so many moons ago. Have you heard from Jack lately?]
