Audio Rate Modulation of Dual Universal Slope Generator / Dual Tran

2007-03-12 by derwskee

Had a question regarding audio rate modulation of the Dual Universal
Slope Generator or Dual Transient Generator...

I just tried modulating my Dual Trans set to oscillation (Gate
Out/Trig In) using the +/- Input with an audio rate cv and I get some
very nice/strange/weird sideband modulation. As you change the
Attack/Release times while it's being modulated you get some
additional stange effects and setting the switch to modulate only
Attack OR Decay gives further differences. Not something I have done
before and an interesting sound.

I did note that the oscillation would often cut out/stop and I had to
re-plug the Gate->Trig to put it back into oscillation mode. So my
questions are as follows...

1) Any harm to be done by modulating the Dual Trans/DUSG
Attack/Release times with an audio rate CV?
2) Anyone else notice that it (Dual Trans) will stop oscillating when
being modulated like this?
3) Do you get a different sound/effect doing audio rate modulation to
the 1volt Input on the DUSG? (I only have Dual Trans in my system)
4) Anyone try using audio rate mod to BOTH the 1Volt CV In AND the
Attack/Release Rate input?

Essentially I want to know if you can get non-linear FM from the DUSG
when using as an Osc AND also add something like a random voltage or
additional audio rate CV at the same time.

Thanks!

Andrew
