prices are high because a lot of time & labor is spent testing the parts
before they go into anything,
and the technicians go through a long training before anything they do
goes into a unit for sale.
Compare an STS era Serge's bandwidth, dynamic range, parametric range,
parametric accuracy, and so on to anything else that's out there.
If you don't care to push your instrument's limits, or have the
instrument challenge *your* limits, then by all means, go cheapy.
