Hmm, it's hard to say with certainty, but in general, for drones, I like to have a layer of subtle modulation apart from the more drastic modulation that I might use to create the dominant timbre.
With the Wave Multipliers and Triple Waveshapers, for example, to get more subtle modulation, I patch the CV through a Scaling Processor, Active Processor, or similar, first. If you use an Active Processor, you get the benefit of being able to VC the amount of modulation.
You might also be hearing the use of several filters, tuned to different frequency bands, being modulated by the same (or related) CV but in different amounts.
I'd really like to know what Rex meant by modulating the 'Tone Stacks', though!

I was wondering how you achieve the slight wobble in harmonics on your drones?
When I was chatting with Rex, he mentioned modulating the "Tone Stacks" Is this what you did, and is that one of the functions of the wave mult?
I also wanted to say I really like the drone near the end (after the main drone fades) that sounds like a prop plane flying overhead, that to me is wicked cool.
thanks!
