The Strangest Serge Dream...

The Strangest Serge Dream...

2003-01-08 by Cynthia <cynthia.webster@gte.net>

I had the strangest dream last night...

(this is a big deal for me because I'm one of those people who
would say that they never ever dream at night, except the
Scientists tell us that we all dream all the time - so I guess I
must believe them)...

Now you all probably know that I'm making custom banana
based synthesizer modules, and am even a Pomona banana
patch cord distributor, (www.cyndustries.com) but you might not
all know that I'm also a huge Serge modular Fan, (actually a tall
and slender one) and met the delighfully buoyant Mr. Tcherepnin
several times in days past.

In this dream last night, I imagined that a comment made by
another woman lead me to stumbled onto a large stash of used
Serge panels and boards in the so-called "junk piles" of an
electronics surplus company in San Diego California of all
places! It was a real Gold Mine!

All other details about the dream have faded in my mind since
waking up, but I do remember that the dream was otherwise
totally based in reality, (there were no pink elephants or Chesire
Cats for example)...

For those not familliar with San Diego, it is about three-hours
south of Los Angeles near the Mexican border, and nowhere
even near Serge's old haunts of Hollywood, Valencia, and
Silverlake...

I believe that there may be powerful magic in dreams,
(I only wish that I experienced them more myself).

I know about Haight Ashbury, and the Midwest with the company
now, but was there ever a temporary operation in San Diego?

I feel like putting on a Sherlock Holms hat and going off in pusuit
of the City of Lost NTOs! LOL!

I"m probably nuts, but just in the slight chance that my brain is
trying to tell me something important here, I thought I'd ask.

Might there be anything to this?

Cynthia

I get dreams like this quite often but with me it's always finding a
stash of vintaj & boutique FX pedals (frostwave, zvex, crowther etc) in
a junk shop, and only having enough $$$ for half of them. It's a very
frustrating dream! I wish you success in your quest, but i suspect it's
hope over expectation time!

... I had a similar dream a few years ago. Unfortunatly it was tied to my
wallet and when i woke up i was surrounded by NTOs and my wallet was gone.
LMAO!!! gee.... i guess dreams do come true. : )
Kind regards
John

Hey all,
Cynthia is a great source for Pomona banana cables -- she helped me fill out
my set with some needed items.
If you want to stay with the Serge color-coding, you'll have to measure and
let her know the color/length combo you want, but then it's smooth sailing.
Thanks, Cynthia!
(And we won't even get into the drool factor for cyndustries modules. This
is a hell of time for a depression, I want my old revenue stream back!
;-\ )

cheers,
Bill

Don't know if this is any help, but, there was this guy whose sole thing was
horsetrading modulars. I'm positive he was somewhere on the west coast. He
has a web site www.analogsynths.com and among other things he had various
systems for rental, including Buchla.
Sorry I forget his name, but I was figuring somebody out there'd know who I
was talking about. Could he be in San Diego???

Speaking of dreams, many years ago I used to dream about playing a strange
synthesizer... it was in aluminum boxes on a table, connected with many
colorful patch cords. I used to wake up puzzled that it wasn't a big Moog 55
with a keyboard. And of course now I have the Serge!

WEIRD!!! I always dream about Synths.. Its always sometime in the 70's and its in a store that is like a Sears or Mongomery Wards.. There is always a huge section, like how they used to sell tv's, a huge display of weird multicolored modular synths.. I have been havin those dreams for like 10 years!!! So far the only thing that has come close to the synths that I see in dreams are Buchla and EMS.. Strange..

Girl....I'm thinking you need to get away from those solder fumes for awhile
and take a walk outside or something.

Heh....
