If I'm not mistaken, this is Mr. Stordeur from the Analog Cottage,
is it not?
I've many times drooled at the sight of his Serge and his modular
Oberheim.
Don't know the reasons he wants to ditch his system, but it always
seemed like he really loved it!
Hope it's not due to critical circumstances.

Andre' is ok and thanks all for your concerns, but he has some urgent
personal business. Yes, it is a shame, he's one of the most rabid Serge
fans I've known, as well as technically and musically educated. But the
book of life turns its pages....

FS: Serge system

2007-08-26 by Jan-Hinnerk Helms

Hi,

I have to sell my beautiful Serge synthesizer.

It consists of 3 panels, the Touch Activated Keyboard Sequencer TKB,
a custom "Animal" shop panel and a custom panel, all housed in a
custom metal case. Please see below for a complete module listing.

I am the first owner of all panels, all were build in Hartland,
Wisconsin. The TKB was built in November 2003, the "Animal" and
custom panel were built in December 2005. The custom metal case was
build in December 2006 here in Hamburg by a professional metal worker
and car painter.

The system comes complete with
- a flightcase for the synthesizer,
- the metal casing housing the three panels,
- an adapter to mount this metal casing on a K&M stand (allowing the
synthesizer to be tilted in various angles to allow comfortable
playing position),
- the K&M 28075 stand (adjustable height for playing in seated or
standing position),
- three STS panel chassis (if you prefer to have each panel live in
its own, separate housing),
- STS rack mounting ears for the three STS panel chassis (so each
fits into a 19" rack, taking up 4 height units each),
- a STS PS6 power supply to power up to six panels (currently set to
220 volt, but easily changeable to 110 volt, please contact Rex Probe
from STS for instructions),
- STS PSD power supply distribution board,
- STS power supply cable (length: 200cm/78"),
- 10 pcs. STS banana to 1/4" cables,
- 13 pcs. Pomona/George L's banana to 1/4" cables,
- 66 pcs. Pomona banana cables,
- two STS grounding sets (one unused),
- and two custom banana to 1/4" grounding cables (very useful if you
can't mount a spade from the grounding set).

Everything is in excellent visual and technical condition from a non-
smoking and pet-free studio, and has never seen stage use. However,
there are 2 things to mention:
(1) The top side of the power supply has two scratches very close to
each other and totalling up to 2 square millimeters, where the paint
has been scratched off (I have punished myself already for it) and
you see the metal.
(2) There is a discoloration on top of the leftmost chassis box,
which is exagerated by the flashlight – in reality it looks much less
obvious.

Worldwide shipping is possible if the buyer pays for the additional
packaging and shipping and all fees, but I do very much prefer a
local pick-up here in Hamburg, Germany. Please note that the K&M
stand is only included if we do a local pick-up. I will not ship the
K&M stand, as it is cheaper if you buy it at your local store,
compared to packing it up properly and shipping it.

The three panels plus complete power supply plus all cables cost
around US$ 11300 if you buy them new. Trouble is, you can't, as STS
does not do custom panels anymore. Add 800 Euros for the flightcase,
metal case and stand. Add 1200 Euros for shipping, customs duty and
import taxes (ouch). So with the Dollar/Euro exchange rates from Nov
2003 and Dec 2005, I paid around 11600 Euro for the whole system,
including shipping and all taxes. I am open to offers around 8000
Euros. Please note that I do not have any plans to split up the system.

I have positive feedback on AH for buying (from US) and selling (to
Spain) a Serge panel, selling a Jupiter-4 (to Italy) and an Anyware
Filterbox (to France). I also sold an EMS DK2 (to USA), but that was
outside of AH (the buyer was nevertheless satisfied, please email for
feedback). My positive eBay feedback (as Metafoetus) is mostly for
books and clothes for our baby girl ;-) but there was also a MIDI
interface and a Yamaha CS01II amongst the deals.

Thanks for reading and best regard,
Jan-Hinnerk

Wow, yeah, awesome case!
Can you tell us any more about it and the adapter? I would be interested in having something like that fabricated eventually...
Good luck with your sale!
