Sequencer advice?

Sequencer advice?

2004-02-14 by Carbon111

Greetings Everyone,

I've just updated my studio pictures:
http://www.carbon111.com/rustyinsects.html
My Serge is rather prominant as you may notice ^_^

I really only have room for two more panels though I'm certain John D. would say
twenty or so...but then I would have to sell my cat...and maybe even my
wife...(or maybe she'd sell me) ;)

Regardless, the third panel is already on order but I'm having a hard time
deciding on the forth and I'm weighing two options with sequencing as my aim -
I'm thinking either a TKB or a panel of SQP8, PDIV, SEQ8, PHA. I started with
the latter as my intent but now I'm kind of leaning toward the former as I
wonder about the limited sequence lengths provided by the SQP8 and the SEQ8
though I know I can fudge 16 steps with the help of an ACPR. Any thoughts would
be welcome - either on or off the list.

I'm kind of trying to do a "desert-island Serge" and keep it to just the four
panels, please ;)

BTW - I've just *doubled* my server space allotment so expect an MP3 page before
too long...and thanks for the emails and support!

Very Best Regards, James

Re: Sequencer advice?/ suggestions

here is my 2 cents worth:
Seq 8 (two of them)
SQP 4
VC Clock
PDIV

....also consider
Seq8
ASR
ACPR
VC Clock
PDIV
BLOG
SQP4 ... i have this panel right now.
... i've driven myself quite mad working up different
combinations for a sequencer panel. I have a TKB and
two Doepfer trigger sequencers so i'm pretty well off.
but for added mayhem i've always wanted another
sequencer type panel. For awhile i had a panel with
this configuration:
SEQ 8
VC Clock
PDIV
ACPR
SQP 7
...but like an idiot, i sold it.

If i had it to do over again i would do this:
SEQ 8 (three of them)
Clock
PDIV (two)
.. i see you have a DTG already.... make it do double
duty and blow off the Clock and put in a BLOG.
anyway... just my not so valuable opinion.
Kind regards
John DuVal

My vote goes with the TBK. Much more versatile. Random directional
control, touch sensitivity and both horizontal and vertical sequencing -
sweet.

hey, that rhymes!

Re: Sequencer advice?

I have to agree with John here. I have a TKB and the shop sequencer panel.
While the TKB is cool, the sequencer panel is what I use most of the time.
It ends up being much more flexible if for no other reason you have multiple
sequencers on different clocks potentially. I also would agree with using a
DTG or what ever instead of getting a clock. The clock is not as useful on
its own.
